His dedication and his love for the game of cricket, made Sachin Tendulkar to focus on the game. He was always ready with his bat and was eager to go for the practice. His coach Ramkant Acharekar was impressed by his skills and his efforts. Even Tendulkar changed his school and joined along with Vinod Kambli, involving in huge partnership of unbeaten 664 runs in a cricket tournament at the age of 13. It was a match where the opposite team was unwilling to play after both batsman made a bowler cry on the ground with their extremely commanding display with the bat. In the entire season Tendulkar scored more than 1000 runs. Later he joined the John Bright Cricket Club of Mumbai and played in the famous Kanga tournament. With his superior technique and his passion he was chosen in the Mumbai cricket team to play fin the Ranaji Trophy tournament. It was the year 1988, when Sunil Gavskar decided to hang his shoes. It was such a coincidence that one great player ended his innings while other great player started playing.
The Indian cricket selectors were impressed by Tendulkar performancce in the Ranaji trophy. It was challenging for him to keep his focus on the game and to keep improving his skills day after day. There are instances where he not only faced the deadly bowlers from the opposite team while playing for Mumbai but also he kept his head down and let his bat scores for him. He was totally involved in the game of cricket. His studies were suffering as he started neglecting it. But the timely advice from the all-time great Sunil Gavskar, taught him a lesson that education is important and it helps in becoming more successful in the life.
The process of grooming Sachin as a cricketer at a very early age gave him the necessary confidence. He was a born-cricketer, who loved the game from his heart. Some time when he got out early or when he made mistakes while playing; he went back to his coach and to his guide to understand and to learn from his mistakes. According to his coach Acharekar – Sachin was a good student of the game. He never wasted his time on the ground. He always watched the game carefully giving his best efforts all the time. At the age of 14, he started playing with many senior players in the Mumbai team and still remained engaged by giving his best and scoring the runs when there was a need for team to win the matches.
His efforts and his ability offered him a bigger opportunity and in year 1989, the name Sachin Tendulkar became part of Indian team.
